Printing In the Library
Q. Is printing free?
A. Yes and no. Each semester you will have $15.75 in value added to your Saint Rose ID card that can be used for printing, copying, and scanning. If you use this whole amount, you can add value to your ID by using the CVC machine located on the First Floor of the Neil Hellman Library.
Q. How much does it cost to print?
A. Printing costs $.07 per B&W print and $.60 per color print.
Q. Can I print double-sided?
A. Yes, that is controlled generally through the FINISHING tab of the software you are using. For example, once you choose PRINT in Microsoft Word, you can select PROPERTIES and then the FINISHING tab. You will find options to print double-sided there. NOTE, however, that double-sided printing does not save any money. One two-sided print will be charged just like two single-sided prints.
Q. Is color printing available?
A. Yes. When you send your print job, select the CSR_Color_Printing queue. Not all printers on campus are set up for color, but you will find two color printers in the library. Once you release your job from these, you will have color prints.
Q. Can I print from my laptop?
A. Unfortunately, you'll need to be logged into a destop computer to print.
Q. Which printer will my job be sent to?
A. The printing system is set up to send your jobs to a universal queue that can be released from any printer on campus. Select CSR_Mono_Print to send a black and white job and select CSR_Color_Printing to send a color print job. You can release your B&W job from any networked printer on campus and a color job at any of the selected color printers on campus.
Q. After graduating, will I still be able to use my Saint Rose ID card to print?
A. Within a month of graduation, your ID card will be deactivated and will no longer be able to be used for printing. You may purchase a guest card in the library and use this to print from one of the two public-accessible comptuers.
