In APA documentation style, document your study by citing the author and date of each work you researched.  This style of citation briefly identifies the source for readers and enables them to locate the source in the alphabetical reference list at the end of your paper (American Psychological Association [APA], 2010).  Include page number(s) when referencing a direct quote or when referring to a specific portion of text (APA, 2010, p. 179).  Start the reference list on a new page, center the word References at the top, double-space all reference entries in a hanging indent format (APA, 2010, p.37). See pages 198-224 of the APA manual for their complete list of reference examples. References in APA style conform to these examples:

Article in an electronic scholarly journal with a digital object identifier (doi):

O'Brien, C. M. (1996). Health and environmental effects on the academic readiness of school-age children. Developmental Psychology, 32, 515-522. doi: 10.1037/0012-1649.32.3.515

Article in an electronic scholarly journal without a doi:
