Q: I participated in the Research Symposium last year. Can I use that research/poster to compete for the Research Award this year?
A: No. You must participate in this year's College of Saint Rose Research Symposium to be eligible to compete for the Research Award. The Symposium only accepts new research projects - i.e. research that has not been shared at a past CSR Research Symposium.
Q: I participated in a regional conference. Can I compete for the Research Award?
A: Yes. You must, however, also participate in the CSR Research Symposium in order to be eligible to compete for the scholarship. Any research shared at local/regional/national/international conference can be shared at the CSR Symposium, though it must be presented as a research poster.
Q: Can I still compete for the Research Scholarship if I'm unable to attend the Research Symposium?
A: No. The Research Scholarship is offered in conjunction with the CSR Research Symposium. Attendance of, and active participation in, the Symposium is an important part of your development as a scholar. Award winners will also be announced the night of the Symposium and we would like all winners to be present.
Q: How does evaluation or judging for the Award work?
A: Evaluation will start after the application deadline.
-
Reflection Questions: A panel of librarians will review and score Reflection Essays/Question.
-
Research Poster: Your research poster must be submitted with your application. Our Award judges will review and score your poster in advance of the symptosium.
-
Presentation: The Award judges will stop by during the symposium to ask a few questions and give you an opportunity to speak about your work.
-
Points for Faculty Statements of Support will be awarded as they are submitted by faculty sponsors.
Total points for all criteria aside from presentation at the Symposium will be tabulated ahead of the Symposium.
Q: Why do I have to submit my poster with my Scholarship application?
A: We are asking you to submit your poster with your application to ensure that our volunteer faculty judges have plenty of time to review and score them. This is a time intensive process and needs to occur ahead of the Symposium in order for us to be able to announce winners that evening.
Q: How will I know if my faculty sponsor has submitted their Statement of Support?
A: You will be notified by Award organizers via email when your Faculty Statement of Support is received.
Q: When will award winners be announced?
A: Award winners will be announced at the end of the Symposium.
